We offer both private and groups
lessons. We have instructors for every level of student and offer lessons in both Western and English styles. Both Western
and English lessons begin with lessons on general horsemanshp. We focus not only on riding with a balanced seat, but on
all areas of horsemanship. We present a number of opportunities, all carefully designed to meet the specific needs of all
of our students, ages 4 and up, beginner to advanced. We provide an introductory program for children with little or
no experience, as well as wonderful experiences for those with more advanced skills to improve both their riding abilities
and their general knowledge of horses. Students will appreciate the casual yet structured environment. When a student is ready
to specialize, we offer the choices of Speed Events in Western such as barrel racing and pole bending or the slower pace of
Western Pleasure. We also love our students to diversify into such events as Trail Classes. In English, we offer hunt seat
and dressage. Whether your goals are for competition or riding for pleasure, we focus on safety, education and a correct seat.
We also offer a Kinder-Rider program for children under the age of 6. These "lessons" are 30 minutes and
are a great way to introduce young children to the joys of horses. Call for more information.
We have developed
the Back 9 Farms Lesson Level System to allow our students to progress through various stages. Each level has basic requirements
for riding and horse care skills as well as horse-related knowledge that must be mastered. These levels are designed to allow
the student and the parent to see actual progress with the skills that are acquired as well as to set goals for what they
would like to attain. This program will allow each student to work at his or her own pace to become the best rider that he/she
can be. We have periodic schooling shows where our lesson students can show off their acquired skills and we present the awards
for each new level attained. We are very excited about this program. We believe that this system keeps both our students and
instructors focused on the specific tasks that make each and every student a well-rounded and responsible horse-person.
Our students are also eligible to participate in our barn schooling shows. Due to the high demand of students wanting
to attend local shows and only so much space on the trailers, Back 9 will be hosting monthly "saddle club" shows
here. We will offer classes in Western and English rail classes as well as several speed events. All riders will be eligible
for year end awards. This is a great first step for students that have never shown and great practice for our kids that plan
to attend other shows. And most of all, a great way for all of our barn family to get together for a rip-roaring great time!!!
